Congratulations
Malcolm and Jonathan

and
Welcome Home
Charlotte and Henry

I don't think I've had a chance to see both of you in person yet, much less together with your children, not wanting to bother you until you've had a chance to at least get settled in all together. But you've all been in my thoughts.

It might be early to be thinking about this, but I wanted to give you both something that you can use whenever the time feels right.

It's wonderful to be all together as a family now, but I'm sure at some point you're going to long for a little time for each other... and you need to be sure to take that time. I'm giving you two special occasions for the two of you, each including:

--- A special meal of your choice... menu at your discretion or I can surprise you... whenever and wherever you like -- the dining room, your quarters, wherever... duration also up to you.

--- Babysitting or childcare... this is for the two of you only... a little time together alone together

(and don't worry, you get to approve the arrangements... I have my qualified co-conspirators, though I'd love to take a turn at it myself) If you want the time together in your quarters, Henry and Charlotte will get their own night out.

--- Plenty of truffles, of course

Jonathan, Malcolm... I'm sending you each a copy of this because I want each of you to choose your own time to do this. You each have your own stress and pressures in addition to the ones you share relating to the children, and this might be a way to signal each other of a need for some away time.

This won't do you any good if you don't use it or keep putting it off, so I'm tempted to put a 2 month expiration date on it... but you know me... I'd probably just relent. So I'll just ask you to please make me happy, and do this. I like to see gifts being enjoyed, you know.

So, whenever you each get the urge to do this, just give me what notice you can... a couple of hours would be nice, since I'll need to arrange the childcare as well as cook.

With all my warmest wishes,

Chef
