" Last week my nus cell group did street evangelism in campus, and I was saddened by the ignorance ( Read more... )

hello mingming! -.- think there are alot of christians out there who, after becoming one, become obsessed with the idea of right and wrong, going to heaven / hell and .. like what you said, try to shove religion down people's throats. and they forget the fundamentals to being a christian. ... quite sad i think -.-

but yea i agree with you. religion works for some, and for the rest, if they are happy that way, why not. (:

yes yes no doubts about that. i'm just replying to his very extreme view about his religion that i know that alot of people, even christians, might not agree to.

hey yiming!! havent talked to you for ages but just wanna tell you smth, hope thats alright! haha im now much more of a christian than i ever was in the previous years of my life (ignored it for v long even though I claim I'm a christian) and I'm pretty sure I'm on the right track now. yeahh I can fully understand how people view christianity... and its right to say some christians have become obsessive and stuff and dont portray themselves as holy ppl. etc. etc ( ... )

hi jared!

how are you (: (: how's the uni plans coming along?

anyway, i hope you understand that i have alot of good friends who happen to be Christians and this is just one guy who ( i really do think) has decided to have very extreme opinions about how Christianity should be a part of everybody's lives - which I really don't agree with.

this one person hasn't changed my view about religion (in general) i've felt like this since secondary school i think, and as i've grown up, thoughts have matured, and i honestly cannot reconcile rationality with religion.

so as to your bit about seeking a purpose in life and our future, i don't think this is a good platform to answer that (i could be writing a dissertation for you here haha) so when i get back to sg, maybe one of our meetups could be about religion (: good excuse to meet up with you anw!!! it's been really really long! (:

hahha im going ntu biz/acc got scholarship there. sadly staying in singapore though...

yeahh i fully understand how some Christians are super extreme and become weird ppl. I had problems struggling with the fact that my brother was so into Christianity, he become so queer and i rarely speak to him at all even till now. and till today I cant really understand that. yeahh just have to accept even Christians are fallen people, and they are really not perfect.

yeahh and the part about self-reliance.. ppl normally say religion is for the weak. but you have to admit everyone needs relationships in their life. and this spiritual relationship is eternal.

okay enough about that la, just hope u wont close your doors totally to this idea =) haha and no la dont solely meet up just for that purpose, meet up for catching up's sake XP come back soon!!

ming i agree with pretty much everything you said really! unfortunately i'm not particularly religious either, even though i'm not atheistic. guess we'll be sweating it out in the underworld together...

anyway, here's a quote that i found particularly true:

"Live a good life. If there are gods and they are just, then they will not care how devout you have been, but will welcome you based on the virtues you have lived by. If there are gods, but unjust, then you should not want to worship them. If there are no gods, then you will be gone, but will have lived a noble life that will live on in the memories of your loved ones."

Wow like that we can have class outing in hell. Maybe attendance will be even better than if we had it on Earth.

haha why is it unfortunate not to be religious? i like your quote it's a really good one (: i actl read somewhere about how turning to religion shouldn't make you want to do good, you should be good just through your actions and life. if so, then being good is totally unrelated to religion, which i believe in.

hope you're enjoying post-exams :DDD mine hasn't even started and i'm dyingggg so scared right now (got <2weeks left ): )
