i just watched a couple of videos and now all i can feel is great sadness in the fact that mr chiam can no longer stand straight nor speak without slurring. i watched him make his rally speech, and then youtubed for some previous speeches he made in parliament. he has never lost his spark - his eyes are still bright, and beyond the physical ( Read more... )

the educated elite can be populist! it's marrying the brains with the heart, which is the best thing ever in my opinion. gandhi was a populist, and he graduated Law from UCL. think the problem is the word 'elite' - it compounds socio-economic facts with an attitude of snobbery.

sadly, i've been reading some notes/comments about the GE about people who have had the experience of going through universities and yet they come out 'fearing' populism in this elections - as if they won't be represented, or that populism leads to ignorance in vote casting, which is just simply stupid.
