Does that mean you'd say it like ka nuts?

Ka-noots, according to the Scholastic website. I always thought it was pronounced nuts - silent "k" and all. *shrugs*

nope it says ka-noots on the scholastic website. i've pretty much always said it as k'nuts because on the SS movie, thats what Hagrid says. And i was kinda too young to be able to remember what i thought it was when i read the books the very first time. but yeah...

i have always said ack-E-o as well.

Hagrid pronounces it with a silent "k"? See that's how I thought it was supposed to be pronounced.
