Opening the post today was great fun. Mother and father sent me some gorgeous dresses that must have been picked by mother as she has such impeccable taste. I'm so glad my mother is like that, as it would be awful to have an unfashionable parent

An unfashionable parent is the worst thing anybody could wish on their enemies. Public ridicule wouold be your fate if she was so, but if she is not, then all the better.

My mother is sometimes when she feels there's reason to be. My father dresses well, but very boringly. No variety or colour.
