.. Basics ..
Name -Erin (also answer to Red)
Age -24
Location -Auburn, California (grew up in Edmonton, Canada. Yes, I say eh.)
.. Favorites ..
Song - "The Two Trees" Lyrics by W.B. Yeats, set to music by Loreena McKennitt
Quote - "In order to have a change of fortune at the last minute, we must carry our fortunes to the last minute." -Terry Pratchett
Book - Aaagh. I cannot pick just one, so I'll tell you the book I'm currently telling everyone to read: The Amulet of Samarkand by Jonathan Stroud. You'll find it in the Young Adult section of the bookstore. It's dark, fascinating, scary and strangely hilarious. The sequel is even better. Book 3, alas, has not yet been published. My favorite author is Terry Pratchett. I abhor The DaVinci Code and the plague of amateur conspiracy theorists it has unleashed upon the world. It's like watching a particularly mediocre James Bond movie sweep the Oscars. (Sorry if this answer was too long, but books are my favorite thing in the world and I'm incapable of limiting myself to one-sentence answers about them.)
Movie - Willow. I once had a pet budgie that I taught to say "I shtole da babyyyyy!!!!"
.. The Rest ..
What are your pet peeves -
- People who have no concept of personal space
- Centipedes *shudder*
- Black licorice
- Radio advertising (I fear I will get inane poisoning one of these days)
- Dogmatic liberals who assume that, because they are liberal, they are incapable of dogma. This is just as annoying as anything that conservatives could come up with.
- That dreadful travesty of an anime version of Howl's Moving Castle. Have you no shame???
Tell us about something you're proud of -
This past June, I packed up my entire life and relocated from Edmonton, Canada to Auburn, California. This took more guts than anything I've ever done before. I seem to be doing okay here, though it's awfully hot.
Sum yourself up for us in a paragraph -
I'm five-foot-seven with green eyes and dyed red hair. I'm too conservative for my liberal friends and too liberal for my conservative friends and have a remarkable ability to annoy both sides no matter how hard I try not to. I love words and word games. Terrible puns bring me great joy. I am passionate about books and spend way too much money on them. In person I can be either terribly shy or extremely talkative depending on who I'm talking to. I have Nonverbal Learning Disorder, which often makes it difficult for me to communicate in person. I have four younger brothers and have lived most of my life in a house with more pets than humans. I'm especially fond of birds, cats, frogs and lizards.
Finish this sentence - In a years time I ..
... will either be moving back home to Edmonton or to New York with my roommate, depending on how things work out.
Tell us something about yourself that makes you unique -
In the amazingly annoying set of intelligence tests they put me through in junior high school, my scores for verbal ability were well beyond what their charts could measure... but my mathematical ability was so low that it almost went off the charts in the other direction. (I still have trouble with anything more math-y than operating a cash register.)
Show us a photo of yourself! You can post as many as you like. You're not being rated on your looks, this is just so we have a familiar face. :)
