[Reading List Question]

Aug 20, 2005 13:18

The irony of building a community of interesting people, is that they're always off doing interesting things & therefore never have time to post about how interesting they are. I'm going to post my current reading list, what's yours?

I, uh... just finished Marvel 1602.

And before that, Watchmen.

...

Cor, when did I turn into such a comic nerd?

I've never really been a heavy reader. I used to read a lot of Pratchett, and bits of Eddings (forgive me Lord) and Feist. The last book I finished (and thoroughly enjoyed) was Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman, which was a fantastic read.

Other than that and the few fantasy/zombie/pirate fictions I have lieing around, that's really about it. =/

My Boyfriend likes Terry Pratchett aswell as what you call "heavier" reading, he lent me Good Omens by TP & Neil Gaiman & I enjoyed that, and now he's lent me the first in the Discworld series; It's alright but I don't really think it's my thing, it's more of a feeling of "How many pages are left?" than "WHY MUST THIS END?!", I just don't think i've ever been one for "lighter" reading; Although i've read all of JTHM & Squee :)

It could've been worse though, you could've said you thought reading was "boring" and then i'd have been flung into the spheres of disbelief & utter incomprehension with a drizzle of rage :)

Oh i'm reading the first Discworld book right now, my Boyfriend lent it to me so I could see what it was all about. I'm not a fan of the genre really, I know it's meant to be a 'lighter' kind of reading but I can't really get into that. I'm trying anyway!

I'm still struggling with the following books simultaniously, losing steam by the day: -

Symbols of the Craft - UGLE
The Hiram Key - Knight & Lomas *
Uriel's Machine - Knight & Lomas
Meditations - Marcus Aurelius *

The Hiram Key and Uriel's Machine are begining to shit me with the lack of well cited references in certain instances and a bit of conjecture and bending fact to match theory rather theory to fact.

(* Re-reading - I have the worlds most crap memory, so re-reading things is a common part of my life.)

Ooh if that's one thing I wont do it's read books simultainiously. I like to fully absorb myself in one world at a time, much more fun :)
