As most of you know, ej33t and myself went to see NIN on Friday night. They were ok, not great.

"What was the best concert you ever saw? What made it so great?"The best concert I've seen was Nightwish. They played well, and Tarja's voice was just awesome ( Read more... )

I have two favorites; The first gig I ever went to which was Less Than Jake, it was just an amazing introduction to gigs & i've never looked back; We were at the front barrier, and it was the perfect climax to an all-round good day. It wasn't some crazy-special day or anything, it was just another college day really, but it was a very good day ( ... )

I'd love to check out Audioslave show sometime. I daresay that would be a rockin' gig.

Nightwish - Great showmanship, great music, great atmosphere.
KMFDM - See above.
The Cure & Metallica - On par with one another I suppose. T'was cool going back stage and feeling special.

As an aside, one of the least impressive concerts would be the Nine Inch Nails concert last Friday, it sucked arse.

I have a lot of friends who are wishing to see Nine Inch Nails when they come to Florida...I'll give them the heads-up from Sydney.

Corgan hasn't been making many fans out here in Australia recently. He walked out on a concert in Melbourne last month, and the interviews he gave over a few of the national radio stations weren't very flattering. I don't think he even made it over to this side of the country, although I can only hazard a guess at that being due to the horrible publicity he'd been involved with.

Also; Tori Amos and Ben Folds? Omg, colour me jealous and call me Kermit.

yeah, I heard about his tempermentality in Australia. :-/ he can be a huge asshole sometimes - I just consider myself lucky that we got to see him when he shut up and did what he does best - playing music. he was apparently kind of an ass in Atlanta, too, which was way closer for us to go see, so I'm glad we got to see such a great show in Philly for having driven such a long way. :)

The best show I have attended?

These will show my age, but there is a 3-way tie for best in my book.

1 - Jimmy Buffett May 2002 - great music (more than just his cheeseburger song for you young uns ;-P ) with great company on a great night. Everything coalesced to be a perfect night.

2 - Chicago July 2002 - These guys were rocking from before even I was born, yet they still put on a tight show, without a single missed note or cue. No opening act, just great exceptional music played exceptionally well for 2 -1/2 hours. It was an intimate theatre style venue, and we had great seats. Oh, and the company that night was terrific.

3 - Rush June 2003 - Again, old rockers who put on an amazing 2 1/2 hour set. Went with my best friend, and loved the show. We had great seats and were able to re live our high school days.

The Cat Empire @ the Paddington Ale House, last year some time. I make time to see these guys every time they're in Perth, they are easily the best live performing band I've ever seen. They've just got... everything. I don't mind admitting I dance when the Empire are on stage.

Besides that, the Ozomatli concert in Lawrence, Kansas was pretty rad. I'm sure John Mayer would have been up there too, except I got jipped out of that concert unfortunately. There's been a few others, but nothing overly notable. I've got a few coming up over the next few months, but I don't think any of them are going to go up into my top three.
