oh my God. having lived in Florida most of my life, I can send complete sympathy.

and I have been to New Orleans before...it is truly a historic place, one of the few true living histories we have in the United States (outside of its rauncy reputation), and also one of the birthplaces of jazz.

one of my best friends worked for FEMA after Ivan hit the panhandle of Florida, and I know they're taking volunteers and what not. I don't know who qualifies, but I know that the American Red Cross and other organizations such as that take volunteers and that the two orgs that I've mentioned take donations and are the leading relief organizations in horrible matters such as these.

I would say that is a start...all of our thoughts and prayers are with those affected.

I know this doesnt help you or have much relevance to your post but.. Man that place looks so much like Fremantle, Western Australia! :O

Natural disasters suck, it seems quite a few people on my friends list have been hurt by this one. (Incluing one poor girl having half her family's houses under water.)

Thanks for the post and the photos on this topic. :D (And for all your posting lately, you rock. ;) )

Ooh, and on an unrelated note - I cant wait for your gift to get to you!! :D I hope the Horrorcane doesnt delay it.
