Definition of Adulthood

It has occured to me that one becomes an adult at the moment when they start to care about politics. That's why political indoctrination of children is so monstrous.
Well, that and the fact that the idea of creating people for the express purpose of serving as soldiers in a sort of culture war is one of the most evil things I can imagine.

I became politically aware when I was twelve, but I became an adult the day that my friends from high school started going to Afghanistan and Iraq, I think. Because that's when politics became very, very personal.
