i've been feeling a lack of art in my life lately. i need to do something creatively stimulating and i don't know what. i'm used to having my entire life taken up by theater and music and since i've come to new york i've had a lack in both of those. i feel the need to design and build something. i know i'm in new york which is the ideal place to do ( Read more... )

so weird--i've been feeling the exact same way. i do a lot of stuff with program board here, but it's strictly planning and running shows vs. doing something creative myself. last year i used to wander around and take pictures whenever i got bored, but i lost my camera in a taxi cab so that's that. such a bummer. i'm thinking i might take a 2-credit art class next semester, and i really want to learn how to sew and make clothing.

a while ago i said i was thinking of starting a web publication of sorts to deal with art and music and literary stuff and i remember you commented and said you wre totally down. we should look into that. i'd love to start a real blog or something.

i'm in a painting class right now that rocks. it's completely abstract, all we do is paint over collages that we make. even make a collage.

my point is that you don't need fancy things to be creative. art is whatever you want it to be.

that's it pretty much ;)

is there a way that you can respond to all the art that you're exposed to in the city? in a blog you could post pictures and write essays about the music/art/experiences that you are having, outside of the day-to-day updates. that might be a way to capture london, or even just respond to things in the here and now.

i love your pictures and your writing, so combine them and share all the awesome things you see with those of us stuck in culturally-void communties populated by the walking dead and rednecks (people who live in florida).

also! the collage comment is awesome. i just made a collage of my favorite foods and painted it and hung it in my kitchen. immediately it went from looking like a middle school project to hip, one-of-a-kind art. anything, however simple, will help you jump out of your rut.

I'm going to start recording what happens in my dreams. While that may not be as much art as it is psyscological, It's pretty freakin' cool.

when I go through theatrical withdrawal I try to paint (in a place that's nice and calm and quite)... I'm not all that good at itt, but it lets out everything I wanna let out. or I go and see a professional and flashy show that inspires me to find something to do with my life that is artistic. ALSO when I do watch a show, i always like to think about how I would redesign the set to make it look better and work more efficiently (even if the show was amazing, cause then it would be an even harder challenge to find better designs.)I've actually got a couple plays coming up, mayhaps if i give you criteria you could help me design via interweb?
