Celebrimbor often followed his father to the forge, staying inconspicuous lest he annoy Curufin and get sent home. His owlish eyes tracked Curufin’s every move as his father stoked the fire and thrust in a tapered length of steel.
Curufin looked at Celebrimbor. "Do you want to help?" Celebrimbor’s solemn face lit up, and he clambered down from his stool.
Curufin demonstrated how to turn the unfinished sword. He laid the glowing end on the anvil. Celebrimbor slipped inside the circle of his father’s arms, grabbing onto the bar between Curufin’s hands. His father smiled and reached for the hammer.
