His father's blood dripped from the broken blade. Celebrimbor felt as if the stifling heat of the forge suddenly doubled in intensity. After what seemed like hours, he dared look at Curufin, who met his gaze briefly before reaching for cloth to bind his wound. But Celebrimbor had seen the abrupt change: eyes shuttered, the light from moments ago extinguished.
In those darkened eyes, Celebrimbor read clearly his father's disappointment and frustration. He backed away, seeking escape before Curufin gave voice to his disdain. He needn't have worried. Curufin said not a word as his son ran from the forge.
