Summary: The same incident described

Author's Notes: As always, with gratitude to
lbilover for the beta.
Curufin's Notes: Better. At least you attempted to show my point of view. I am not heartless, despite what you and my son and Professor Tolkien may believe.
The wound was trifling. Certainly Curufin had received worse at the hands of his brothers. It wasn't pain that hardened his features but Feanor's voice in his head, mocking him. "Failure! You are no master to teach this Elfling."
Celebrimbor had a gift; Curufin dearly wanted to be the one to guide that talent. He had hoped with perserverance they could redirect Celebrimbor's fanciful tendencies into astonishing creations. Seeing his son's fearful expression, Curufin felt his own failure deeper; Feanor was right.
He knew he should reassure the boy, but his voice failed him as Celebrimbor ran from the forge.
