Sounds fun! Though I haven't had a similar experience, I think you shouldn't feel at all guilty or sad about the fact that your jazz isn't that helpful with ballroom. It's not like you were planning to go pro with jazz - it's all for fun, right? I say experiment! Have fun with new things! Who cares about the background?
I don't think you turned your back on anything. all styles of dance are connected in various ways, so it's not like you could 'betray' your foundation. enjoy your new world, and thank the old one! xoxox
I still love ballet, jazz, and all that, always will! And I still want to do it over ballroom! But I have just been introduced to ballroom and I like it too! And don't say that! This group is called 'dancers'! And I'm pretty sure ballroom is a type of dance! So I don't think you've turned your back on anything! Dance is dance. This is just another form. And I'm pretty sure your previous skills went into helping you with ballroom. Cause it helped me. So you're using your 11 yrs of experience even now! Whether it seems that way or not. So go you! :)
