Hi all!  Just joined, and thought I'd introduce myself... I'm 18, I'm from New York, and I've been dancing for about 6 years (technique=not mine, sadly).  It's my dream and my love and my everything, but since coming to college, I've fallen very sadly out of it - all I can find around here for free is hip-hop classes, and I'm a lyrical girl

what kind of dance did you do for 6 years? i've been doing latin for about 7 and love it. tango is my new favorite tho =)

:D I did jazz for all 6, some modern, and some ballet for my seriously lacking technique. >.< We were a small studio, so none of it was high-level, but I had WONDERFUL teachers. ^__^

I think latin is so fascinating - my dad does salsa and tango, and I've been to some of his classes :DD

It was the International Latin Ballroom Competition in 1998 that gave me my first look at professional dance - and I was hooked (even tho i was 8 :D).

no way! my mom and dad teach ballroom =) i started learning with them then took classes (mom can't take too much spinning and won't let me toss her up... hahaha)

im learning argentine tango now and it's great. to think, i used to hate dancing º_^

do u do hip hop too? i only did choreographed but haven't done that in yearsss.....

I enjoy hip-hop - I did it fpr a while here, unable to find anything else - but it's not my true love. XD

Ahh...I know exactly how you feel! I came into college 3 years ago and the only thing of dance I could find is a dance team...so I've been on it for 3 years and they're not that great...really disorganized and uh...yeah...so I just quit! Now I'm trying to find dance around and do some training on my own. So I feel ya!!! But where there's a will there's a way! ;)

Disorganized. YES. I feel your pain. >.< "My" team sometimes practiced until 2 am, and rehersal times were all over the place. It was MADNESS. I did the same thing as you - luckily I live right next to the students' sports center, and I can go in and book the dance studio for myself for an hour, and just practice. :D
