The Mantids were released in my yard and also across town at in a friends yard a few days after they hatched (I was running out of aphids to give them). I hope to see a few all grown up in my yard soon!

Loved that video too. Gosh it's like wild life kingdom on LJ today, awesome. We have a Pray Mantis here last year under our deck, HE was cool. So I did snap some shots and post them. The FEMALE showed up a few days later and got into our house, many she was psycho and kept diving at us. We did manage to get her out of the house in one piece. I'm sure she then went after the male and well ya know what happens then :(

Thanks.. glad you liked seeing this! First I've ever seen this sort of thing too.

I found the egg case last fall/winter right next to my grandfather's family grave stone. Took it home and put it in a jar and set it out on the deck til it finally hatched. Alot of people told me it wasn't a praying mantis egg case (that it was some sort of wasp eggs or some sort of caterpillar eggs) others said it would never hatch. It proved them all wrong though.. lol I had a feeling all along that it was what i thought it was. (I had never even seen a praying mantis egg case til then)
