Maybe consumerism isn't so bad. If the idealized people and places to be of our parents' generation (or grandparents' generation, for some) have been replaced by idealized objects of fixation and conspicuous consumption, who among us hasn't been socially bettered by the pursuit of the latter rather than the former?\\ yo does this make sense?

i didn't mean exactly socially bettered and thought i deleted this right after i posted it!

anyway yes to an extent but what i mean is that the status thing now isn't sex or drugs it's money, so it just leads to a different set of problems i suppose.
