A new day

Feb 15, 2005 10:05

I studied all night, yet my weariness was totally banished as the sun rose above the horizon. The beauty of the dawn was beyond compare, the colours melding into a passionate fire that lit up the sky and inspired me to be able to face the day afresh ( Read more... )

He walks in through the door, hurrying as usual. I smile, knowing that he most likely has been chtting up some girl somewhere - ever the smooth talker, after all.

I wander over. "And good day to you," I say with a grin. "You're late, you know? So tell me, who is the lucky lady today - still the fair Rosaline, or has some other beauty caught your eye?"

"Rosaline, with her fire red hair and sweet nature. Rosaline for whom the sun rises in the morning and sets at night, in whose eyes you long to lose yourself. But, of course, I hear you two have had a disagreement, a lovers spat. But I am sure that it is nothing and she will come round and light up you world once more - never you fear," I say, placing my hand reassuringly on his shoulder.

"What? Does Rosaline not return your affections?" I ask, truely shocked. After all, he does seem to have the luck of the devil with women. "That must be a first for you and she must be blind."

Sitting beside him, I lift my legs up onto the back of the seat in front of us and lean back. I'm completely unsurprised by the fact he's having women troubles - I mean, the guy always has liked to play the field - for as long as I've been his friend, that is. But he's entertaining with it and the stories - oh! the stories!

"Fine, I'll never mention her again," I say with a wink. "So, who is this other girl?" I ask, intrigued.

"Well, yes," I say with a laugh. "That was my question."

"Sophie, Sophie," I try and place her, then smile. "Blonde girl, British - Juliet?" I ask, a little confused. The name Sophie - it's not right, it doesn't quite fit. It has no music to it, no charm. Juliet - now there's a name to capture the heart. the kind of name that would inspire the passions of my friend here. Juliet - a name I can believe in.

I laugh out loud at that one. "I'm sure there are other things she'd much rather do with your ass! And I'm sure you'll have no problems bringing her round to your way of thinking," I said with a wink.

"Ah, it's that bad, is it?" I ask, recognising the mood for what it truely is - spurned in love, our Romeo always was one to suffer with fits of depression. "Cheer up! I swear, she'll be yours. Of that I have no doubt - and if she is not, well, she's only a woman and there are plenty more of those!"
