A rare glance behind the curtain...

The world is too loud - the electronic world, that is. I hear it pulsing incesintly - fans at home, machinary at work; computers are omnipresent. Cars creep like corpuscles down great veins feeding into the City, deafening me. I don't hear what I used to hear, and the lights, those constructs of humanity, pollute my eyes with undue malignaty. Well maybe, you need to go out into the wilderness for a weekend and just escape the city for a little bit. A wilderness recharge if you will. Might not solve it all but me provide some relief. Plus camping can be fun. Just you and the stars. Oh and friends who may like to camp.

Any time you want me to arrange it, you can camp at Becky's. It's damn quiet and she has lots of yard. There is a benefit to living in the middle of nowhere after all. There's clear sky and the stars seem so close. There's no hectic pace, lakes just down the road and the forestry trucks only go by randomly, thus it's super quiet.

I hated travelling there, but the town itself was so refreshing. Very laid back. I'd highly recommend it. I can probably arrange for 5 or 6 to go up there.

I know what you mean. I wanted to go camping last summer, but was too busy moving in with Jenn and our schedules clashed. I want to go this summer, but we've used up all our vacation time. So next year it is, maybe we can go to Tamihi Creek or Skagit Valley or something. I've got a 6 man tent (8 to 10 if you're friendly), so there's lots of room for people who want to come along.

In the mean time, go to a fabric store and ask about blackout lining (I think that's what it's called, Jenn would know better). It really works, just duct tape it flush against your window and no light comes in. Throw some socks over your LEDs and your room becomes pitch black, it's amazing.

Lastly, those things you're describing are sensory deprivation tanks. If you find some (maybe at a spa? I don't know) let me know, because I am also quite intrigued by the idea of shutting out everything.
