I thought I'd give this community a boot with some ramblings from me.

When you think about it... the sad
reality, that is... we’re all like
trains. Every one of us. We all start
out the same, shiny and new, with more
features than the last model. There’s
champagne and ribbon-cutting. There’s a
charming novelty to it all.
Everyone wants in on it.

Soon, though, the graffiti starts to
build up. People put their feet on the
seats, spill sticky things, spit gum.
The shit starts to catch up with you. A
failed relationship. A pink slip. An
overdrawn bank account. You become
jaded. You travel the same tracks, over
and over. Life isn’t as novel as it used
to be. Cheap thrills become expensive
and not so thrilling.

People notice, maybe think it’s just
because you’re getting older, and the
world’s changing so fast, and there’s
nothing you can do about it. Like it’s
inevitable. You can feel it, and you
don’t want it to be that way. You try
and fight it, you get refurbished. But
it’s all for show. Only the superficial
get fooled.

And before you know it, your brakes are
failing. People start to complain. But
you can’t stop, you’re too far gone. And
you’re left with two choices. Let them
decommission you, let them melt you down
into something more suitable, leave your
remnants rusting in a scrapyard in a
twisted metal heap.

Or... you can derail.
