I have no idea about cotton, but Fairfield has got Bamboo-fiber at a pretty good price now. In Tampa, I can find it for about $14 for 12 ounces, and prices vary slightly on the internet. I made two throw pillows for the couch in the cabin using this bamboo fiber as filling, so you'll get to see and feel them in a few days. I'm not sure how it wears in pillows long-term though.

Not sure what the price would be on wool batting, but I know spinning quality wool averages out at about $1.50 - $2 an ounce retail from sheep farmers, depending on the breed of sheep. Sometimes you might be able to find it on ebay for as little as a $1 an ounce. I imagine as a batting or fiber-fill for pillows, it would probably be pretty resilient and bounce back well, simply judging from how well it bounces back after being stored in plastic bags for months or years. Of course, when it gets wet it always smells like wet dog though... which might not be pleasant to some people...

hmmm... i was kinda leaning towards wool actually... since the inner pouch isn't to be washed so it wouldn't get wet and if memory serves, Mom has a whole bag of wool batting that she likely won't be using anytime soon............

thanks for the suggestions and such!!! ^.^
