I went to UT, so I lived in Knoxville for 4 years. I am a cali girl at heart, so I won't lie, it was really a tough time for me. I made the most of it and still have a ton of friends back there, but won't be back to live there again. My two gripes: the food, and the over the top religious fervor. That said, the smokies are beautiful and the people there truly are very nice. And the houses are beautiful. And football season is SO FUN. Are you looking to move back there?!
i think i accidently clicked on your profile while meaning to click on stacey (fats) journal and i saw this post ... hope you dont mind me responding! i live 20mins north of chattanooga (in between chatt and knox). we are in chatt every weekend, several times a week sometimes. Its a really nice, family city. its not huge but it isnt terribly small. I like that its conveniently situated just 2hrs from atlanta, 2hrs 15mins from nashville, 1hr from knoxville, 2hrs from birmingham and so on. The downtown area is really nice - the Bluff View Art District is beautiful and has some cute restaurants (the coffee shop rembrandts was featured on rachael ray), the walking bridge area is really, really nice esp in the summer. The aquarium isnt all that great honestly but there's a great childrens museum. Shopping isnt too bad either. Housing, as compared to larger cities is pretty affordable. My friend teaches at GPS - private girls school and its really good - on par with McCallie. There is an excellent hospital system (Erlanger). I dont know
