Dang! :( I hope it didn't cause any damage.

But hey, now you can plant another tree in its place - a kind that you actually WANT there! There are too many oak trees in my yard and I wish I had the chance to get rid of them and plant a few weird ones.

It's a Willow Acacia, I hope we can save it - I really liked it and we had it planted as a little baby tree and it grew pretty big in the last few months. I think our problem was that we didn't have it double staked, which is what we are going to hopefully do the second Curtis gets back from the store.

And, can I use your gardening expertise? I am gonna start a small vegetable garden this week - I was trying to figure out how to water. Do you use a watering can and water for however long it needs, or do you have an auto drip system, or do you use something else?

Oh man, I'm so far from a gardening expert, it's not even funny. But I'll tell you my experience with my tomato garden: I watered daily with a watering can until they grew big enough to warrant using a garden hose. They did not fare very well (beefsteak tomatoes ripening at less than half the size of the ones you see in the supermarket), so you might want to look around online for a better way.

Also, most vegetable gardens should be planted in early spring, but I think that depends on what type of vegetable you want to grow. You could ask a gardening expert at Home Depot or wherever you plan to get your seeds/plants. I'm still learning!

Was it an older tree or, since this is a new house, a young planting? I hope there's no damage.

It was a baby Willow Acacia. Curt is at the store getting supplies to re-stake it. I just hope that we are successful at getting the tree back up, our front yard (and the tree) looks so sad.
