Home. Yes. It even felt wrong, and Buffy didn't live here. I'd failed. I was supposed to be her watcher, keep her alive Instead, she was offered what had to be ugly death if we hadn't found her body yet. Wonderful thoughts Rupert. I shook my head as we walked in. I walked into Giles' place and watched him as he headed upstairs. I sat down on the couch and put my head in my hands. Come on Faith! Buck up. You can be the one who saves the world now! It's what you wanted. But not like this. No way. Not at all like this..

The phone ringing next to me startled me out of my self-pity. Good thing too.

"Faith, could you possibly get that?"

I couldn't bring myself to call up the stairs to say yes, but I reached for the phone after three rings. I lifted the phone slowly off the hook, but my hand hovered. I wondered who was on the other end. And what if it was someone who didn't know? What would I say? What if it was Joyce?

Finally, I slowly lifted the receiver to my ear. "Hello?"

Watcher's Council? Oh this can't be good. But the council already told him about Buffy... So who was this joker? Oh shit, new Watcher?

"Hey, um.. Wesley was it? Giles is a little indisposed right now. What do you want?"

I blink in surprise at the girl's rudeness. "Excuse me but I have urgent business with Mr. Giles, Miss. I have just arrived in Sunnydale, I am in the back of a taxicab and I would like to meet with him immediately to discuss arrangements for training the new Slayer. Please pass that message to your boss and I'm sure he'll take my call." I politely but emphatically tell the young lady.
