Questions from Miss trengo

1. What do you think the biggest difference is between Appleton and Madison?

2. What does your lj name mean?

3. If you could do any job (assuming you had the talent or skill,) what would it be?

4. If you had one super power what would it be, would you use it for good or evil, and what would you do with it?

5. You are having a dinner party and 5 guests are invited. This dinner party is going to be made of famous people, politicians, religious figures, actors, dead philosophers, you name it. Who would you invite and why?

1. Hmm, well this is as always highly debatable. I think comparing the two is quite hard for me. Appleton is where I grew up, met Scott, and some of my other closest friends. Madison is where I spent some of the most influential (and recent) years of my life, where my relationships with many of my old friends grew, and many new friends have been made. Though, I think I could live in either city, Madison has more opportunity, diversity, and allows me to live a lifestyle that I don’t think that I would have in the Fox Cities. I think for the time being I am enjoying being close enough to my parents that they are easily accessible, but far enough away that they can’t interfere too much ;) The biggest disadvantage of living this far away is missing my nieces growing up, but we do try to get home enough so that we don’t miss too much.

2. Fachea is the Celtic goddess of literature and poetry. Chosen because of my passion for literature, my love of poetry, and the bit of Irish blood that I have.

3. Well, my previous jobs and the portion of my current job that I have enjoyed the most revolves around event planning. It’s what I want to do-crazy as it sounds. I also enjoyed translating, but don’t think the lifestyle is conducive to all of my future goals. Though both carried higher stress loads, they are the two things that I have done that I never tired of, nor felt that I hated my job.

4. Mmmmm…super-powers. I think I would want the ability to beam/orb/teleport. Though there are a million other powers that would be fun, I would be tempted to use them for not so nice things (I’m thinking invisibility, reading minds, etc.-I’m sure the possibilities are endless). I would use it for getting around, going on vacation (sans travel costs, and if I forgot something, I could just orb home and get it), and of course I wouldn’t have to worry about being late for anything anymore!

5. I would invite Katharine Hepburn, Mahatma Gandhi, Siddhartha Gautama (Buddha), Bob Hope, and George W. Bush. My rationale: Katharine Hepburn was one of the most rational, beautiful, and giving people of our time. She donated much of her time, energy, money, and effort to various cultures of the world. She was unbiased in race or income bracket. Mahatma Gandhi left his relatively lucrative position to promote peace and equality in India. He taught tolerance, and peaceful resistance. Buddha came to enlightenment through pacifism, compassion, and understanding. Bob Hope dutifully supported the troops of his country without promoting violence. He empathized with soldiers being taken away from their families, and made a concerted effort to "bring our boys home" as quickly and safely as possible. I would invite George W. Bush, because, even though I know his skull is thick, to spend an evening with four of the most revered people throughout history--who achieved goals through pacifism, good sense, and hard work...not deep pockets--may actually open his eyes to what he is doing to our country. I think all of them could offer advice that could help change his vantage point. Though I realize the likelihood of Bush climbing off of his pedestal long enough to see things from somewhere else is idyllic, but the optimist in me hopes that people of his (albeit unfortunate) influence, can change for the better, and bring their devoted masses along with them.
