big sky country

i feel kinda like the last 1.3 years have been a big vacation--i haven't been working regularly (but i have regularly been working irregularly!) for money, and so i've had a lot of time to recharge. strangely, though, a lot of my time was still spent working--working for a few consulting clients that kept me afloat (alongside my mostly-depleted- ( Read more... )

> and i recognized it!

I really enjoy revisiting a place years later and recognizing various locations, sometimes with a fuzzy dreamlike half-memory.

Like when we were in Portland this summer. (And 'twas great seeing you then!)

You biked a lot of stuff that me and Shawn have done! Alas alas alas, I am green with envy over your ride on Going-to-the-Sun road, as it was still covered in snow while we were there and closed to cyclists.

While in Missoula, definitely get some Big Sky Brewery beers, yum yum. Their tasting room is in a crappy spot outside of town, though. Shawn and I also stopped at a place right near the trainyard, I think it was Kettlehouse? They had good stuff too. And the pizza place by the bridge (I think it's even called Bridge Pizza) was super tasty and not overpriced. They have vegan cheese there, not that you need it.

Missoula is the kind of place I could see living in for a bit. Not permanently (too in love with Portland, and it's too isolated) but definitely a cool town.

we went to bridge pizza and kettlehouse, though big sky wasn't open at the right times for it to work. turns out bayern is also there so we visited it and flathead, in a tour-du-brewpub kinda day.

yeah, missoula is small and isolated but summerwise is pretty excellent. guess winter might be a lil different story!

Excellent!

LJ does seem to be winding down. You might consider posting this sort of life update to FB or G+, but there's nothing wrong with just email, either.

Glad to hear you're doing well, anyway!
