well, i'm not an Aussie, but i've been living here for 6 months, and i must say i find those Ls and Ps and stuff completely mind-boggling. it seems a lot of trouble for exams that -i've been told- are ridiculously easy to pass. and then the 'pay every 3 years to renew your licence' thing ... *shakes head ( ... )

Emma, 20.

1) I don't have a problem with the first initiative. I think increasing the learning process could be good, it'd give learner drivers much needed practice time before getting their P's. But i think they should also have to have lessons in all weather conditions. I know for myself i only drove in the rain once before getting my P's.

2) I don't agree with being only able to have one passanger, it makes things difficult when doing trips out of town and i know alot of people car pool to university so this would make it impossible. I don't see the difference between a car load of people and taking two seperate cars - maybe there could be less distraction? I don't know.

3) I totally disagree with the third initiative very strongly. When i go out with my friends the fact that we have someone willing to be a designated driver plays a huge role in our weekends festitives. Unless they're willing to drop the price of cab fares (and i don't see this happening anytime soon) i think this proposal is ridiculous.
