After finally falling asleep at 3:30am, i woke up at 7:30 with a horrible sad feeling that didn't let me go back to sleep. I don't even know why i care so much, it's "just sport" after all. But the way they went out... I would be able to forget it if they had been fairly beaten, but this... I'm more sad about how much happiness people have been ( Read more... )

It's awful, isn't it? It was so HEARTBREAKING! Because it was their first time and all. The atmosphere in the champions bar was not a happy one! I flew my Australian flag at half mast. (Actually it just fell down because it was cheap and crappy, but I thought it was quite clever too, ha!)

When you look overall at the cup, the aussies out-did what everyone expected, they outplayed both Japan and Croatia and put in a respectful performance against both Italy and Brazil ... couldn't really ask for much more.

But extremely frustrating and dissapointing when you think there would have been 10 seconds or so left in the game ... what Neil was thinking is beyond me ... absolutely no need to make a clumsy slide when we had the numbers in the box .. at least give schwarzer a chance even if the shot had got away :(

Hey at least they got in!
I saw John Howard on the news this morning talking about this. He looked like he was about to cry / had been crying, haha. It sounds like it was a pretty nasty twist in the game.

It sucks and all dude. But there is much worse things going on to be sad about. Up the road from my house yesterday an 8 year old INNOCENT GIRL. was murdered and raped in livingstone shopping centre toilets by a 21 year old guy. a fucking 8 year old who went to the toilet by herself and got raped and killed. this is fucking sickening. people will forget about the sport in a few days, but this sort of thing affects people for the rest of their lives. what the fuckkkkkk. i feel so sick.

well im sorry. i am not someone who doesnt give a shit about the real issues in our society though so i don't really need you to tell me that there is much worse things going on to be sad about. everyones allowed to get emotional over petty things like a sporting match once in a while.

I was up watching that last night. I didn't think we'd win but they were playing so well I was starting to get so hopefull and then some poor bugger tries to kick the ball (which is apparently a main aim of this game) and misses and falls down AND THEN SOME WOP RUNS IN TO HIM BEFORE THE GUY CAN GET UP and that means the itals win. FOR NOT LOOKING WHERE THEY'RE GOING.
