His Presidential style of choosing his own cabinet sadly is a modernisation compared to the old '6 factional heavies decide it over Chinese food' style, the ALP does need a bit of a shakeup. But yes, I agree, Rudd wields a firm hand, so lets hope his personal program runs mostly to the good. It remains to be seen yet if he is a Clinton, who ran his party as much to the right as necessary to get elected, and then tried to push it back once he got power, or a Blair, who pushed his party as much to the right as necessary to get elected, and then kept on pushing it further to the right every time any excuse presented itself

And becoming AG is hardly much of a demotion for McLelland. In fact, you could probably mount an argument that it's an even more politically sensitive position than Foreign Minister at the moment.
Also, while Rudd's rhetoric has been pretty strong on the "I'll pick my own ministers" front, it really is quite amazing how factionally balanced his decisions (and front bench) turned out to be.
I find his endless rhetoric to be just that and nothing more. Hard to find any substance behind his orchestrated over-coached public presentation style. Then again - he is just another a polly waffle in a douche bag.
Bugger the sorry thing. I agree with Nelson - if those people cannot/refuse to thrive in our current climate - it ain't no one's fault but their own. Or you could just call it natural selection;)
The KRUDDmiester will get my vote when he does something about pollie's superannuation. Hahahahaha...yeah right.

Maybe, but it's well away from talking to Indonesians about hanging.

Naturally they're minimally controversial, but they're his decisions. There's no escaping a power-shift towards the leader.

I wasn't really serious-but surely there have been cases of newly elected members being elevated to the Ministry?
