So I was just on myspace (as usual)and I was reading the surveys that people fill out to give insight as to what type of person they are, and I am soo annoyed. The last question is "Number of things I REGRET in my past" and there are so many people that answer that question with "nothing". WTF? i can completely empathize. I think a lot of of people say they have no regrets because they think it's a sign of weakness, not being in full control of your decisions. Because looking like you make the right choice every single time is just way cooler than looking like you're a normal being. note the sarcasm in that. :) props to you, gina. it's good someone finally made a point of noting that. p.s. how've you been?! ♥

I notice that as well. I barely do surveys but whenever there's one about regretting anything in the past, I have a lot of things. Even simple things.
Baaaaadasssss.

Hey it's Graham via another LJ user named Gina. This term regret gets most of the substance of its definition from TIME, as in I don't think it means anything unless we consider that regret refers to past events and our relation to them. Remember, years ago, that movie "Magnolia"? Late in the movie we observe an old man in a bed going on and on to his caretaker from the hospital about just this subject. it seems like what you mean when you say you don't mind having regrets is just that you can transform the regret into something else. The hardcore-ness of this relation of human beings to the "one-dimensional continuum" of time is summed up by someone very clever whose name I don't remember: "Not even God himself can turn back the course of history."
Incidentally: if you think about it, time isn't real at all; it really is nothing.
