I was turned down for the Concentrated Animal Feeding Operations inspector job. As with the research tech position at Notre-Dame, I was one of two finalists. Oh well, time to keep looking . . . anyhow, someone at the Kansas City EPA office called me for a screening interview.

Hang in there and, as you say, keep looking.

KC would be fun. Lots of arts and ethnic culture. Conservative suburbs, but progressives are not all that hard to find.

Get a big place, so we can all crash on your floor at Renn Faire time. Heh.
