In the interests of solidarity and friendship, my family should like to host a party in the honour of our new Russian friends, to formally welcome them and their business to our playground.

Caspian sends a box wrapped with tissue of gold to Goneril.

Inside is a handwritten note on fine linen stationary:

Dear Goneril,

I would be delighted to attend any gathering you host. I am deeply honoured that you would host a party welcoming Aleksandr and myself.

As a token of my regard, I send you this book which details the history and art of my people. Perhaps you will find inspiration for future patterns.

Sincerely,

Vanya

I hope the evening to be one that you recall with pleasure in the years to come.

... How did you find New Orleans, Alex?

Alex is tempted to make a smart remark about 'flying south and there it was' but Goneril won't likely find the immature humour pleasing.

"It was delightful. The company was stimulating, the food was excellent and I had a lovely visit with one of my sisters. Perhaps the next time Anastasia drifts up this way you might consider having lunch with us. My sisters are always pleased to find other women in positions of power within the sort of business we do."

"Tragically, women never seem to much warm to me. I cannot fathom why." Her eyes widen in an exagerated expression of confusion. "But I did have the pleasure of lunching with Evan during your absence. It was an unexpected pleasure."

My dearest Goneril,

I would not dream of interfering with the way you host a party, I only hope that we will be able to indulge our shared tast in vodka.

I will be bringing my man, jasonlocke, with me, but I would be deeply touched if you would add Benjamin Adams (reallyoldguy and his lover Dawn Summers (consort to the guest list.

Yours truly,

Vanya

Would lovely Goneril care to come along and see what the boys have been building?
