Well, it looks like I was right that there's more going on between Taffy and Stefan than them being just friends. No, they're not sleeping together. Stef's...eagerness made it pretty plain he hadn't had that kind of fun in quite some time. But Taffy has an odd possessive thing about him, and frankly, I don't know where she gets off talking to me ( Read more... )

Finch is too lazy to drag his ass over to the auditorium for two minutes, so I'm stuck with the job. Shouldn't be too bad, I'll see Heather, deliver Finch's message, and we can talk for a little bit, speaking I don't have a class now.

Opening the heavy auditorium door I slide in quietly, and not seeing anyone I look around for her, deciding it would be best not to call out her name. Walking over to the stage I stand in front of it for a moment, sorting out where the orchestra would go and how much room it would take up, and then, remembering there should be a pit I climb the stairs up onto the stage. Looking around for a way down, I spot a trap door and open it as quietly as possible, looking downwards.

...Instead of finding a pit, I can see a faint light...some sort of candle. And then I see Heather. Chanting.

I finish the incantation, blow out the candle, and climb back up to the stage. And see Jordan standing there. Great, of all the people to walk in, it has to be Taffy's boyfriend.

I smile and tuck the snuffed candle into the pocket of my blazer. "Well, this is a nice surprise! What are you doing here?" I lean over to grab the trap door to close it.

When she comes up I'm leaning against the wall on the far end of the stage, my hands in my pockets. I notice she tucks the candle into her pocket. "Hey, just came to deliver a message from Finch. He wanted to know where the orchestra was going to go. I was looking for a pit."

"Pesky rodents," I say with forced cheerfulness, setting the door back in place. "I could swear we have mice living under there."

When he asks about the orchestra pit, it takes a minute to focus. "Oh...oh! Well, there's no official pit, but I was thinking we could rope off this area here and set up chairs in it," I say, indicating the area in front of the stage, before the first row of seats. "I know it doesn't look that big, but I think it'll fit just fine. I've had the entire play cast sitting there for meetings."

"Yes, they are amazing," I reply absently. Dammit, I wish he'd stop looking at the trap door. He probably wouldn't know what the talisman was if he saw it, but still, it's making me nervous. I laugh a little and ask, "You hear the mice too? I keep hearing them scuffling around under there. I might have to bring it to the attention of the custodial staff."

I see a plan forming here. "Why don't I take a look?" I say, walking past her and resting my hand on the latch of the trap door. "No harm in that, I'll just see how bad the...mice are." I look up at her innocently.

"That's really nice of you, but there's no point in you getting all dusty, too. I tossed some herbs around that ought to repel them along with my little spell, and if that doesn't work in a couple of days I'll just alert Mr. Stevens and maybe he can set some traps or something. You know, release them into the wild."

I kind of want to shoo him out, so I start checking my watch. "Was there anything else you needed to know about the orchestra? Did they decide on a piece to play?"

I don't move from my position near the trap door. "Um...not sure. I'll ask Finch later, though. You know," I say, changing subjects again. "Just lemme' take one look. If it's bad I'll go get Mr. Stevens for you." And with that, I open up the door for the second time and quickly start to descend the stairs, immediatly searching for anything funny looking. I scan with my eyes until I find the little object that I saw earlier. "Is this an herb?" I ask, holding it up.
