Shelley Plans
Shelley people, how is June 10th for the retirement party? It's a Friday, and the party would take place after school in a location not yet chosen. I'm hoping to get the HS library, but I have to get three-ish people to approve (Ehmann, librarian, Thompson, others) before I can go ahead and make that definite.
Please comment and let me know if there are sports parties going on after school that day so I can decide whether or not to pick another date.
I will be speaking with the aforementioned people sometime next week to get the okay, and the invitations will follow soon after. I'm going to need people from the freshmen, sophomore, junior, senior, and college classes to take stacks of invites and get them to other Shelley students in any way possible, whether by fax, email, mail, or hand. I don't want anyone left out - this also includes any parents who had Shelley. If all goes well, I plan on filling the library to capacity. :)
If anybody has a band and would like to play at the party or if anyone knows of a band that would be good (I'm talking bands that play classic rock and good music), please comment and I'll mention it to Ehmann and see if that would be ok. I mean, I could probably get school band/orchestra groups to play, but I would like to have something different. Although, jazz band might be cool...
Jon is taking care of all food stuffs/catering, and I have a three-person team (Caitlyn, Becky, and Katie) to plan decorating, but if you can think of something unique to do or some way you can help out, go ahead and comment! People with connections are my favorite people. I'm currently looking for somebody with connections to a good Beatles cover band (I know there are a few around L.I.), a photographer to make an album of the event (I'm sure somebody knows someone who'll do it for free or cheap), or a printing company that would be so kind as to make invitations for us. The invites aren't a big deal, but I thought it might be nice to do something fancy. Comment ASAP if you think you've got a good connection with somebody who can help out or give a discount on anything.

If something comes up, I will tell you how to help. I totally understand that people want to help because Mr. Shelley was freakin' amazing, but there's only so much that needs to be done. I'll try and spread work out so that everyone can play some role in the whole thing, but I make no guarantees. Wow. That was a long entry. Congrats on reading this far. I'm done. Bye!
