Hi, I'm Alison and I'm from the Philippines. I've been interested in scrapbooking for a few years now, but I've never actually done it. My sister does digital scrabooking and I'm kinda envious of her. But since I don't have Photoshop yet, I wanna start with regular scrapbooking. I'm not subscribed to any scrapping magazines and I haven't seen a lot ( Read more... )

your sister uses photoshop for her digital scrapbooking??
i personally have no idea how to make my own paper to do so...
i personally use www.creativememories.com and www.shopquickquotes.com
most of my scrapbooking i do digitally through creative memories. it's around $100 to buy the original software and then you buy other packages that are $5.95 - $20 but you never run out of the paper or embellishments they're always there! and then you can either have hard or soft cover books made or you can print the pages at home or somewhere that prints photos! :)

I think so, yeah. She also does traditional scrapbooking, but not as much as she does digital.
I considered getting supplies online, but they kind of seem more expensive than just buying from bookstores. Maybe it's because websites use dollars as their currency. A dollar is about 40-50 Philippine pesos, so I think it's a bit expensive.
Maybe when I get more money or a job (I'm still in college and I can't get a part-time job), I can think about getting supplies online. But for now I'll probably just stick to getting them in stores.
Thanks for your suggestions! I hope I'll be able to get good supplies soon. :D

I sometimes make my own paper but I find that just finding good deals here and there is great too. I even go to Dollar Stores to buy scrapbooking supplies. There might not be as big of a choice, the quality is still pretty good. Usually I just buy the supplies witht the best price but then there's special paper or stickers that are perfect for a project so I just pay the full price.

I don't really know where there are good stores here for scrapbooking supplies. I usually just find supplies in the National Bookstore here (that doesn't really aim to sell books ._.). I hope there are others with cheaper (or better) supplies.

Since I've just started scrapbooking (although I haven't actually started yet ^^; ), I don't really have much of an opinion about supplies. Maybe over time I'll learn which supplies are better than others.

I got a pair of 'crinkle' scissors that lets me cut shapes into the paper. Its very pretty and it makes the paper look like something special.

I'm considering buying craft scissors too. Maybe I should. That's another good way to give the paper a more personalized look. I'll try to remember to buy them when I see a good pair. Thanks!

(By the way, we have a plate at home with your icon on it. Sorry, it's off-topic.)

You could look on ebay. I buy a lot of scrapbooking things on there and you can get some good deals with combined shipping. Might be cheaper than buying in the store? At least here it is.

That's true. eBay is another good option. But my problem is that I don't really have a way of paying for things online. I don't have a bank account or a PayPal. But I do think that buying supplies online could be cheaper than buying in the store. And they usually have better quality than store-bought supplies too. Thanks! :)

I wanna do digital scrapbooking too, but I wanna try traditional first since I don't have everyday access to the internet (or even just a computer). Thanks for the link though!
