A Special Notice to Our Readers

Nov 13, 2004 16:33

Dear Fellow Fans,

As a newsletter catering to a wide variety of Queer as Folk fans, we have to take into account the interests of all of our readers. With this being the case, it is important for us to recommend a wide variety of fan creations, ranging from miscellaneous pairings in fanfic to a healthy range of graphics and videos featuring the characters of the show.

However, it is impossible for us to recommend everything that we come across. There is such a high and diverse range of productivity within the fandom that it would simply be too time-consuming for us as editors and you as readers. It is with this in mind that we inform you of our "rec policy." We can only make recommendations that are based on certain criteria, including but not limited to: non-friends locked posts, fic that is posted to personal journals (or in rare exceptions as decided by the editors, some web archives), items that we as editors are able to come to a general consensus about, and other standards as we see fit. However, this does not mean that every editor will include the same materials or creators in each issue.

Bear in mind that we are taking this cue from other, more established newsletters like quickquote -- as a fledgling newsletter, it is up to us to learn from their experiences and policies and find the methods best suited to our fandom.

Please do not feel badly if we're unable to rec something you've done, and please don't take it personally. We are always willing to take suggestions from our readers, even if we are not always able to implement them. The editors of this newsletter reserve the right to distribute (or not) any item at the discretion of the current publishing editor.

Thank you for your understanding,
The Staff of _in_babylon
