"Oh, we have a new inhabitant for you Nanny, by orders of the exalted one, this is another Mall Rat, we caught her snooping around by the west wall, can you open the door? It's starting to hurt my back."

Siva heard voices but move. When she heard retreating foosteps, she opened her eyes. When she tried to move her head, though, a sharp pain shot through her body like wildfire and she let out a small yelp. Better not move, she thought. She laid stiff and stared at the ceiling of an unfamiliar room. It didn't look like the cave, or any room in the mall for that matter. Even the voices were foreign to her. She closed her eyes and a tear rolled down her dirty cheek. She felt paralyzed and almost started to panic. She wiggled her fingers and toes. At least those were ok. She moved her arms and legs. They were fine too. I suppose it's just my head.

"There is a girl in my room Mouse, they say she is a Mall Rat too. She's been hurt and will need to be tended too as soon as some supplies arrive. You don't have to go in there if you don't ( ... )

Mouse watched Nanny leave to the other room rolling her eyes at the "You stay here." She jumped off the bed as soon as the door closed and went over to the window. She knew how to unlock and open windows. She had often slipped out of her Uncle and Aunt's this way. She flipped the latch and pushed open the window. A cool breeze blew into the room making the curtains flap. There was a screen, but that wasn't much of a problem either. The main thing was being on the second story...but there seemed to be a tree close enough. Mouse imagined that she could reach it. Okay...step one accomplished. She tried to close the window but it wouldn't go down all the way! It was still opened a crack. She closed the curtains hoping that it wouldn't be noticed...

Now she went over the the crib and looked at BabyB. She twisted her mouth in thought. He sort of looked big...maybe he was too heavy to carry him? But she couldn't escape without him. She HAD to take him! She reached down into the crib and tried to pick him up. UGH! He IS ( ... )
