Charles/Mouse:Attn:Salene and Bray

Jan 05, 2004 22:07

Two guards ran across the field quietly, they'd been watching for a bit, both had been surprised to find the field empty, every check point around the doors empty when they'd come out, but recent checks into the communications room told them that both Salene and Bray were indeed still in the pit and there was nothing to worry about. So they didn't ( Read more... )

Salene heard his words, being comforted by touch, any touch, was making her feel a bit better, but he moved away, and she felt the tears welling up in her eyes again, sliding down her face. She was about to answer Bray, to tell him they had no other choice, if they wanted out they had to join this organization and do as they asked, but she was suddenly blinded by light and fresh air overwhelmed her senses and the familiar 'Oy! You two alive in there?' came floating down from above and she gasped, her eyes squeezing together, "Yes! Yes! Take us to your leader, bring him here, we have things to tell him please?!" Yesterday Bray had held her back and told her to shut up, not to give in, but today, no today she was going to offer anything to get out of here and once they were free and she could run, she would be back in her Mall, taking them down one by one until nothing was left of these crackpots but an old abandoned hovel of a shack!

The guard just laughed a very amused laugh, and he stood up, motioning back at the house before both he and his partner moved for the clearing between the trees. Back at the house, the two guards next to the door outside knocked on the door and the two guards inside opened it up, everything was moving, and Charles led his boys out into the open field, surrounded by guards ( ... )

Salene watched as the guard walked away, "No! Wait please wait!!" She started to cry harder, sobs, this was like some nightmare she couldn't wake up from, they wouldn't even listen to her, it was as if she'd gone mute! Salene grabbed at her throat, her eyes adjusting to the light faster today but it still made her nauseated and dizzy, and she felt like she was going to faint, buzzing and singing in her ears, whispers and shouts in her head, and when she squinted up into the light her breath caught in her throat, the sight and sound of that man, the one making her crazy, it made her head spin and she saw red, angry at him, so very angry. "YOU!" She cried out, but that was the last thing she said, for she couldn't talk anymore, she wanted to tell him that she was in for whatever his sick plan was, but she couldn't bring herself to say it, no matter how much coercion he tried to use on her, she could not say it, and her pleading eyes met Bray's. Could he say it? Could he tell this man to his face that he would be willing to work on being ( ... )

"Hey," Bray shouted up, "Let us out!"

He lost his composure, the plan went to plot, something clicked inside he just wanted out. Uselessly he tried to jump up, ignoring the pain from the light.

he stopped looked round, maybe there was something they could use, but there was nothing.

"Let me out!" he shouted. He looked at Salene, "help."

Charles stood there laughing, he was having a good time at their pathetic existence. Her angry 'YOU!' and Bray begging to be let out, it was all just so very amusing! "SILENCE FOOLS! I WILL GIVE YOU A REASON TO BEG FOR YOUR LIVES!" He turned around and motioned at Dax, walking towards him, whispering in his ear his commands ( ... )

Mouse was at first relieved to find the blindfold away from her eyes and the hand away from her mouth. She was thinking of yelling at him a bit more, but there was something going on. She could tell there were more people than she originally thought although she couldn't see them all. Everyone had this expectant air about them. And then there were doors opened that led to something in the ground. She shivered. This was not good...

And then when the guard forced her to the pit she struggled against him, but to no avail. If only she were bigger! And then he lifted her up and hung her over the pit. What was he doing? Safe??!! "What are you doing?" She screamed, looking down into the darkness. But it wasn't all that dark with the sunlight streaming in. And there were two people down there. And she knew who they were!!! "SALENE!" She struggled a little, but remembered what Dax said. NOT FAIR!!! "SALENE! What have they done to you? LET HER GOOOOOOOOOOO!!!"

Salene felt a shiver run up her spine as he commanded silence, Bray wanted help but what? What could they do? She had to work up the courage to tell this awful man she'd join them, it was caught in the back of her throat, like acid reflux, burning at her. Her heart hurt, she couldn't betray her Tribe for these people again, she couldn't bring herself to agree to the madness, but she needed out, she had to get out! It was when he walked away that she felt something hit her like a ton of bricks, the sound...of..a child? Wait, wait that sound...that child, no, it was just another voice, Salene had been hearing them for a while now, the voices of her loved ones, Mouse's giggle, Amber's laughter, Pride's loving words, his chuckle, like memories that had been stored and brought forth to keep her comfort, she was just, she was imagining Mouse's yell. Salene covered her ears and began to rock a bit, willing it away ( ... )

Charles sneered, making that much noise over a brat? This was not her child! THIS WAS A STREET URCHIN! How could Salene be more protective of this child than she'd been over her own baby?! "ENOUGH!" Charles commanded, walking up behind Dax, visible to Salene and Bray only. "You care more for this street rat than you do for the baby you lost! Than for babies you can make for me! You are more concerned with yourself than with the plight of the world, Salene! You are a disgrace to this world!" He was being harsh again, he knew he had to beat her down with words and then build her back up. "Listen to me Salene, you are destined to be a wonderful Mother, you could be the Supreme Mother! Of Divine Children! Doesn't that say a lot to you? Doesn't your soul yearn for the baby you never had?! Give in to the cause, Bray! Listen to me! I know you want this too, you want a family and you want to be your true self again! Come over to our side, we are your family, we are your followers, we love you, not those Mall Rats!" He was leaning in, his hand ( ... )

Dax watched the little girl with her grim face, not saying a word, the look of hurt in her eyes and it tore at his heart. He was a softie, deep down inside, he'd never hurt a flea, let alone a Mouse, how could he have done something like that? Why had he done it? Why did he owe them his life? How did that equate to scaring the crap out of a little girl? Someone who was loved very much and cared about very deeply. These Mall Rats didn't seem so bad now, not after all of this, in fact Dax now had a deep admiration of Salene and Bray, to be so strong through something obviously terrible. He shook his head, dispersing the thoughts in there, and he reached behind the little girl and undid her binding, "Come, I shall walk to you to nursery like a human being, and not like an animal," he took her little hand in his and pointed a finger at her, "Don't try anything though, you will not be safe at the hands of another guard," he gave her a stern look and began walking, leading her through the hallways.

Mouse was really surprised that he untied her. Why? This couldn't have been an order, could it? Trying to trick her as they did before in the Nursery. Being nice to her and talk to her and having her talk to them. Just to be tied and blindfolded. Held over a dark pit and seeing Salene that she couldn't help.

She sniffed - upset at herself. She should have been able to do something! Shouldn't she? And still he threatened her. Warning her that if she ran something bad would happen to her. She sniffed again. She had to stop crying!

She quietly walked next to him down the hallways she hadn't seen before. This Tribe was very organized, weren't they? She sighed. Was there any hope?

Every little sniffle was like a cut to his heart, he'd done that to her, made her cry, and now he wished he could take it all back, make it all better. "Is, is Salene really your Mother? I didn't think she'd had her baby, and, and aren't you too old to be her child?" He was trying to make conversation, to get her mind off of what had just happened, "Look, I'm, I really am sorry that that had to happen, I, I had no idea that's what was going to happen, if I could take it all back I would. I wish there was more I could say...Mouse, isn't it? Don't worry, they can't keep Salene locked down there forever, they'll have to bring her up someday and then I'm sure you two will be together," he tried to sound cheerful but it wasn't working, he didn't believe a word he said. This organization was starting to look really bad to him and as soon as he could figure out a way to repay his debt to them and take off, he would.

Mouse listened to him chatter. Asking questions, talking, making conversation. Just as Nanny had. This had to be a trick! She looked away from him, lifting her chin up a little with an air of refusal. She wasn't going to talk to him! Not unless he did or say something that made her believe he was going to help. That was the best choice she decided.
