you used to assist right? what/who did you assist for/with..was it product stuff or portrait.
I hate shooting product..it is boring as hell you're right there.. (unless it's beer..we were all smashed for that one)
but product = tons of money
and i like money.

I used to assist for both. Obviously I liked doing fashion a lot better than product. Its just more entertaining and theres the whole model factor thrown in there.
And I dunno where you're getting that product is worth more.. I think it just all depends on your employeer and the product. Most of the photographers I worked with were either salary and just got paid to come in and shoot whatever was there, or they were on contract and got paid hourly for shooting, but it didn't matter what they were shooting.

oh with product you get wayy more money.
with models..you have to pay the models..+ assistants+ hair stylists+ makeup artists + cloting stylist and all that out of whatever the photographer is getting paid..so if they photographer may be charging more than they would for this over product..but after all those people they have to pay they wind up with less..

and a photographer getting paid via salary..god that must suck..sure they make enough to live off of but that is shit pay..compared to shooting per contract..
