Unless you can disable it then ditch the email addy in question, or if that's not a solution ditch the ISP for being substandard. I have had a great service from tesco after this year, and AOL were shite as to be expected. Dunno about TalkTalk but there ya go :)

Good old Spamcop !! Have run ins at work with them every couple of months when our US office get blacklisted. Unfortunately more and more companies are using spamcops blacklists, so if the IP you're sending through gets blacklisted your emails might not arrive, you should get a non delivery reciept back though, but it's not always obvious as to why it's been returned. You get cleared from spamcop after a couple of days of no complaints.

Can you tell I've spent several days going through non delivery reciepts trying to work out what's going on after we got spamcoped in November, oh my job is sooooooo exciting :p

would spamcop mean that e mails sent to me are vanishing? coz that's what is happening.. sometimes i see them in the mail waiting icon, but by the time i click on them they have vanished. it's getting tedious.

by the way Chele and Neil from Sheffield say hi.. saw them on NYE.

No spamcop wouldn't mean that emails sent to you are vanishing, you would never receive the email it would have been sent back to the sender. It's BT that's been spamcopped, so it would be your emails that wouldn't be being sent.

Don't know what email client / firewall / spamfiltering you are using, but it could be that something is filtering them such as norton antispam, or your email clients spam filter and either immediately deleting them or not actually downloading them for you, all depends on your settings really.

oh..
i'll have to put my thinking cap on again.. our PR company didn't get any of my mails, so perhaps there is a bit of both going on there.

the firewall and spamfilter is Mcafee. scuse my ignorance, but when you say e mail client what exactly would that be? my technological knowledge hasn't got any better i'm afraid

This article you're quoting is from 2002: http://www.ispreview.co.uk/ispnews/archives2002/arc27.shtml which means it's well and truly out of date. BT don't use SpamCop any more; I've been working with another BT customer to try and get email through spam filters on a talk21.com address ( ... )

thanks for the advice Beki... have looked in bulk folder on webmail, which is where spam goes I think, and there is nothing in it.... should i reset the spam filters anyway?

pardon my ignorance on these techy matters. Iz

OK, reset the spam filters (if you can - BT don't make that easy) and contact support, by email or through the website, to tell them this

"legitimate email is not getting through to my email account and is not appearing in my bulk email folder on webmail. I am aware that you have hidden filtering in place filtering email before it reaches my inbox and these filters are catching this legitimate email. Please sort this problem out."

This is a huge problem all over the internet - it's one of the biggest reasons for LJ comments going missing. My only other advice would be to switch away from BT email to use gmail - I've only had to tell them to sort their hidden filters out once since I got my gmail account.
