Java's eyes narrowed at Ram's condescending mannerisms, all fear and guilt over having lied to him melting into annoyance as she watched her husband haughtily thumb through his old copy of Metamorphosis. Upon feeling Java's hand on his shoulder, Ram shut his book gently. He was no longer angry with her. Once again, he had let his spite get the best of him. Java would never go behind his back and see Jay. She was truly better than her sisters. He set the book down on his lap.

"Look, Javie..." he started with a sincere appologizing look in his eyes. He couldn't manifest the right words, though. Appologizing was something he wasn't exactly used to.

"I was thinking I might get a bit of fresh air...". Perhaps that's what's best. Maybe they just needed a little time apart until he had fully gotten his thoughts back.
"Of course, Javie. I understand." He answered softly. A part of his mind still nagged, thinking that maybe she was going out to see Jay. He quickly pushed that aside; she wasn't like that.

"Do you need anything while I'm gone?". His mood lifted a bit when he had heard a concern for his needs. Ram looked up at his wife. She was just emailing her concerned sister, and you blew up at her. You owe her an appology. The voice he ( ... )

If Java's smile tightened slightly at Ram's apology, she didn't notice it. How many times in the last week had she dreamed of hearing Ram speak to her so gently, she wondered? How many times had the foolish hope that they could still be together given her strength in that closet, distracting her mind from the things Line did to her? And now that she was actually hearing it, Java understood the absurdity of the dream. The gentleness was all part of Ram's routine, after all; he behaved as he liked and then offered some superficial apology to smooth things over afterwards. "No, Javie... I'm sorry."
