Happy anniversary! Here's to still being here. I am glad some of us are!
I was intrigued by Hannibal because Bryan Fuller, but I am also really uncomfortable with the serial killer premise, and the "pretty dead women as set dressing" thing. I haven't even watched it yet because I wasn't sure I wanted to/should, but I read someone's review and saw some screen caps. I'm still kind of tempted - I really do like Bryan Fuller! But I probably won't watch.
Thank you! I think a lot of people probably check in, but I certainly read every day. I just don't seem to have that much to post about. Or comment about for that matter. I'm kinda bummed about it to tell you the truth, I need a fandom, stat!
and the "pretty dead women as set dressing" thing Tell me about it. Lately I've been reading so many things that have brought home just how patriarchal the world really is, so shows that are basically chauvinistic even in something so basic as the set-up turn me off in a big way. I need happy, fun, female and light shows right now!
Happy 10 years. Your table is gorgeous and I want it.
Hannibal- I saw the 1st episode and got intrigue but the 2nd episode was so good and next week is gonna be epic. maybe you can marathon the show when it ends.
Thank you! I think a lot of tables could probably be suitable for that kind of set-up, you just have to look at it differently than all the furniture stores set it up in their showrooms.
Maybe marathoning is the answer, but I doubt it. I'm just getting sick of all these shows that bring me down when all I want is for my shows to make me happy. I think that's why Elementary is the only crime procedural that's truly working for me right now, because even though the cases can be bad, everything else about the show is a pure delight!
The only heel I've tried so far is the Prepare, but I've been wanting a pair of Mini Zazas for ages now. The Munster is probably my favorite heel (thought just for looking at, because lord knows you can't walk in them), but the Mini is a close second.
From the beginning, it was kind of hard to see how The Following's premise could sustain itself over several seasons. I'm only sad it didn't even work for a full season.
I loooooooove your purchases! You always have such stylish and cool things. :)
Such a well done pilot, and yet it left me completely cold.
YES. Well said. I TiVoed the second ep but haven't watched yet. The cold open of the pilot sucked me in, and I thought it was well made. But I didn't love it. I felt like I should have liked it more than I did. Fun fact: "Quantico" is the suburban campus of my alma mater the University of Toronto. In the first scene in a lecture hall, my friend who was over was like, THAT IS TOTALLY SCARBOROUGH CAMPUS. We haven't been there in *mumble* years, but she knew it right away. :D
Anyway, I found the motivation of the killer didn't ring true. I mean, I get he was psycho, but I didn't buy it. But I'll give the show another chance since it is so well produced and acted.
Lately, I've been going for fewer purchases but more quality items, and I gotta say it's paid off because I love the things I've bought so much more.
Haha, I love it when you get a glimpse of your own hometown. I mean, I still get a vicarious thrill when Boca Raton is mentioned/shown on TV, let's not even get started on how it feels to see Stockholm on a show (which NEVER happens, unless it's like the Alias thing where they showed stock footage of Stockholm City Hall and pretended it was a church in Spain, which still cracks me up to this day).
I thought the psychology of him loving his daughter so much that he had to kill her didn't work. Killing other girls in her stead, that I get, but not then turning those emotions on her. If he'd hated her, then I could see her being in danger. Maybe it's just something I don't get about the psychopathic brain?
As I get older, I'm the same with purchases. I'd rather spend more for something really great and buy fewer things.
Ha! Yeah, I guess Stockholm doesn't get much airplay in TV shows. Toronto gets quite a bit, but of course they're always pretending it's someplace else nine times out of 10.
I felt exactly the same way about the killer and his daughter. It just didn't make sense to me. I guess it's a good thing we can't follow the psychopathic brain! :D

Those Fluevogs are gorgeous! I've a couple of pairs of Mini Lilys, and I would so love to try some other styles.
