I guess thats their own fault for applying for stuff they dont know about! At least they know for next time and know what they need to learn. x

If they are going to try and blag it, they had better be up to the task! Otherwise, you end up having to sack them - and that's even harder, dood...

Quite right. It's still not fun being nasty to people though. Even if they are idiots - finishing the interview was not an option I was going to consider though.

If it happens again (and it probably will...), just avoid the technical stuff and concentrate on the other stuff you need to find out. If nothing else, it's good practice...

If interviewing someone completely useless, who's clearly lied on their cv, start inventing stuff to make them feel even worse.

"Oh yes, we work on the new HP oojamaflip system, i assume you've used this before..."

There's being creative on a cv, and then there's downright lying. They deserve everything they get.

I've made 3 candidates cry so far, but one was mentally unhinged and so doesn't count.

Like the way you're thinking...

3-0 to you.
Do we get double points for making grown men cry?

If you can make a grown man (25+) cry at an interview, i'll buy you a pint.

I think we've just invented a new sport.

Likewise.

I'm already feeling a bit sorry for the poor guy who's coming in tomorrow lunchtime...
