i have far too many friends who abuse their substances. even in suburbia, there's stuff people want to forgot with alcohol. and they want to feel good, and if that takes pot, or coke, or herion, so be it. i get called uptight a lot for being straighedge, but i've had too many friends get caught by their parents, and a few hospitalized. and more than i really want to count who will become completely dependent on something before they're 30, and dead before they're 40. it always reaffirms my hopes for humanity when someone else knows they can live clean. :)
Anyhow, as a daughter of two parents who smoke pot and drink, I wish they didn't. But I'd rather have them go to that than coke. Which is huge in my area.
But on the other hand, them doing tha has made me realise what I don't want to be. I quit drinking because one it was bad for me, and two, I don't want to be 40 or 36 and smoke pot and drink.
