I just realized I kind of think of facebook status updates in a similar manner to how I thought about updating livejournal. Just abrogated greatly because no-one will read a page long status update =P

Dreamwidth has mood themes and usericons, but I don't know if that's what you're looking for. I have invites, if it is.

Knowing nothing about Dreamwidth, I wouldn't know. Is it full of frakkery in the same manner as Livejournal is nowadays? Can I easily read other people's blogs from the internats? Pluses/minuses?

It was developed by some people who thought LJ was full of administrative silliness but liked/wanted to streamline the format. I haven't really used mine, but I know that you can crosspost from it very easily -- it's built into the update screen. I poked their FAQ a bit and found this. I know a lot of people love Dreamwidth like it's the second coming, but I don't know much about it other than that the site is red and pretty.
