The last few times I was home for Christmas, my mom and I boycotted it, lol. Her birthday is Christmas eve, so she already hates it. We decided that since Christmas family gatherings force you to see people you really can't stand, we'd just not do it, ha ha. (Plus, we both worked retail at the time, and were just DONE with the holiday crap.)
We made a big pot of spaghetti, drank cheap wine, and watched movies for 3 days straight. No shopping for gifts, no cooking for a bunch of ungrateful people, no putting on your game-face to act civil towards people you can't stand, NO STRESS!!! It was fabulous. :D
I hope you make it through the holidays without going postal up in the Wal-mart... retail really IS hell, especially October-December.
Darling, those relatives of yours sound like complete twats. No wonder you don't want to spend Christmas with them. :/ I bet you can find a way to celebrate that makes you happier without needing so much family around, and same goes for your birthday.
Deep breath, keep working, and you will make it work. ♥
