So I just talked to a friend who went to the bahamas over break and it kind of made me happy that I didn't go. While I wouldnt mind being drunk for eight days in the warm tropical sun, it just seems that there are better things to do. I basically got the impression that it was a fuck fest, and while I am quite liberal, it just seems kind of ( Read more... )

My God, it's television, film, cell phones-every device that "brings the world to you" They minimize our sense of power and effect because they turn the majority of our communication into a solitary exercise. This gradual communication retardation (along with the advent of the suburb) has lead to the fall of the local community, without which we have no basis to recognize a global community.

I was in Chicago this week and the only people I was able to meet and have conversations with on the street were homeless people. Even in the Art museums, probably the best place to have a conversation with a stranger, people were distant and shy, unable to get out of our heads.

Because we can't connect, people love the Bahamas at spring break. What these kids are willing to do is evidence of their desire for something, something more than sex, I hope.

Well...maybe we should all become "homeless people," wouldn't that be the best solution? And if they really desired "something more," (if that exists,) don't you think they would be searching for it instead of merely settling with the norm.

First of all, i can't believe i'm spending my computer tech hour reading live journals. The lowest of lows.

Second, i fully encourage you to become a homeless person kate. Wouldn't that be fun, muttering to yourself in the subway station in urine-soaked cloths as people make a wide circle around you so they don;t have to smell you.....wait a minitue, Eric's got the schitzo stuff down, and kate has the smell....together, you are a hobo.
