Looks like I need to change my layout. Can't remember how to do that. Too lazy.
Happy Independence Day!
Probably going to stay at home and watch TV and laze around and read or something.
I really need to clean though.
Aaand on TV.. As expected the sit coms get axed. SIGH. I REALLLY wanted Selfie to make it for at least a season. That show is so entertaining and sweet and every single character is just lovable in their own quirky way. The references are amazing and up to date (and I need to actually check some of them)
AT LEAST the remaining eps will be released online so... there's some comfort? Hopefully, the writers figured that there was a chance it wouldn't last and wrote a satisfactory conclusion (with Henry and Eliza together of course. *fingers crossed*)
Others: I enjoyed Bad Judge and A to Z, but I'm not that sad about them ending. Manhattan Love Story was cute and I'll miss that. I really liked the strange family and their family business hijinks and thought the voice overs were a nice touch... Plus.. since this is a love story, it's annoying that the ending is abrupt.
At least Black-ish and Cristela have survived. :)
And then How to get away with murder.
I liked how the winter finale cleared up a few issues and has me interested in what's to come, but it does make me wonder what the hell a few people(most people) where thinking getting involved in something they could easily get out of. Geeeeeh.
But gosh, I hate and love these characters and that's what really makes the series (IMO). They're just so awful and so amusing and the whole show is so ridiculous that it's entertaining.
Annalise is this top shot lawyer, who has like one other associate, one investigator and a bunch of first year law students (one of whom didn't even know what mens rea was even after given the answer) making up her "law firm". Actually, she leaves most of the work to these law students, who've just started law school. If I were a client, I'd take my business elsewhere. It also helps that Annalise is an awful human being, which for some people could be a bonus. She'll judge people, but not her clients, because mostly she doesn't care about them, but she does care about her side of things. (Basically in true hypocrite fashion: It's utterly wrong is other people are doing it, but Annalise herself is justified in doing the same shit for whatever reason)
And then there are her students aka the Keating Five. Wes (aka Puppy or Waitlist) the audience surrogate, who initially seems like he just wants to be friends with everyone, but is incredibly manipulative and I'm hoping he's actually a sociopath, because that would be awesome. Now, I'm annoyed at this "sweet guy" being a total arsehole. I have a similar dislike for Laurel (aka Wallflower), who is supposedly the quiet idealist and caring and all that crap, but comes off really cold. It could be the actress, but that character sounds bored pretty much all the time. As in "Oh, we committed a murder. Seriously.. whatever. Let's now deal with it." In comparison, the ambitious ones, who seemingly don't care whom they trample on to get what they want, are actually more affected by... someone dying. Kind of like normal people with normal emotions and empathy and whatnot. In addition, they're probably the only ones chosen for their skills, although Connor (aka Hairgel) pretty much only uses sex. So it would be nice to see some of those smarts. (Not that I mind the sex..). Michaela (aka Prom queen) at least has shown that when she's not being social climbing histrionic. But I like those two characters as well as the fifth student, Asher (aka Douche face), not involved in a murder, since he's the token white straight guy. :D Connor and Michaela seem more interesting to me and Asher is the amusing comic relief, who basically has no filter for offensive crap, but is deep down an okay guy.
There are other main cast characters.. The strangely loyal Frank (investigator) and Bonnie (associate), whom I sort of like, Nathan the detective dude, who... well doesn't do much and is also a jerk for cheating on his wife (who has cancer) and the awful Rebecca (the client), who supposedly has a high IQ, but so unbelievably stupid that it infuriates me. Unlike Annalise, whom I can still find entertaining, Rebecca is just so awful I want her GONE.
Her predictable "romance" with Wes is also nauseating and those two take up way too much time.. Rebecca is basically my only real problem with the series though, as much as I don't like a few other characters.
And The Mentalist is back on for its last season. :) I mean yay that it's back and not that it's the last season... although I like the fact that it can be wrapped up properly and go out on its own terms. The previous season ended on the right note and worked as a series finale, so I'm hoping this ending will be even better.
Have been catching up with The Good Wife. I started it years ago, then dropped it, then decided to give it another shot. Still going through the DVD box sets, but had to check the newer eps.. and GAH that ending. I have to stop worrying so much about a fictional character. :) (Though it's partly due to not wanting to watch a show with only crap happening to my favourite character or a show WITHOUT him.)
