There is something that sets adult college students apart from the kids straight out of High School:
The kids are there because they're expected to be there. The adults are there because they WANT to be there.
The kids are studying something they think night get them a job. The adults are studying something they are PASSIONATE about.
What are you passionate about?
Is it your plants? Then go for your Masters in Botany. (Hint: as an adult student, skip the Bachelors - go straight for the Masters. If your school won't let you, find a new school.)
Is it computers? Then for go for a Computer Science degree. There's still a market out there for GOOD programmers - and you might just be one in the rough.
After watching 2 of my friends get degrees in Vertebrate Paleontology (read: dinosaur bone diggers) and manage to find employment doing what they love, I realized that its not what you study, its how passionate you are about it. You can get a job in ANY field, if your are dedicated to being the best in that field!
That's the problem, I'm not passionate about anything, except maybe my plants, and I donno how I could make a career out of that. Vineyard management or something.
Hah, I could go back to Yakima and start up a vineyard. Or I could make sweet love to a golem made out of razor wire!
Maybe I need to just go hitchhike for a few years, or follow a band around as a roadie. Ha!
